Key West Spring Break 2013

Key West Spring Break 2013. Sun, Beaches, Bikinis, Flip flops, awesome nightclub action, quirky sunset celebration, wet t-shirt contests and Cold Beer. Come party on America's Only Caribbean Island. Spring Break is here and you have waited all year for the party.  Now it's time for the Key West sun, beaches, awesome nightclub action, and the all watersports excitement of America’s Caribbean. Only 90 miles to Havana, actually closer than Miami. With daytime temperatures in the 80’s and warm evenings, you can enjoy Spring Break, and party with thousands that show up from all over the world, to this tropical paradise.

During the day the crowds will be concentrated on the beaches.  The island has several, including the famous Ft. Zachary Taylor State Park beach.  There, you can swim in crystal blue waters and enjoy a cookout at the State Park. A beautiful beach at the southern end of the park provides opportunities for picnicking, swimming, snorkeling, and fishing. Visitors can also enjoy a short nature trail and bicycling within the park. A refreshment stand at the beach offers snacks, cold beverages, beach sundries, and souvenirs. Guided tours of the fort are available daily. Located in Key West at the end of Southard Street on Truman Annex.  Or - on the other side of the island - Smather’s Beach. Smathers Beach is easy to get to on South Roosevelt Boulevard along the ocean side of Key West. You can park along South Roosevelt Boulevard and the beach is right there.

You should bring a beach chair (or rent one) and cooler to kick back and relax.  If you want vigorous exercise, you can run, walk, rollerblade, or ride a bike along the sidewalk path.  For beach activities, there’s usually a volleyball game late afternoon you can join in on. With plenty of space to roam about, and vendors that provide many fun things to do. Parasail, Sail Hobie Cats, Sunfish sailboats, windsurf, paddleboard or Kayak. Always a Spring Breakers favorite. There are Bathrooms and showers available on the beach.

But it is the nightlife  that makes Key West Spring Break famous.  Duval Street – Key West’s world famous destination for dancing, drinking, and all the Spring Break fun.  Visit the famous bars, like Sloppy Joes, a famous Hemmingway hang out.  There are dozens of dance clubs, hole-in-the-wall bars, and of course Key West’s famous female impersonator shows.  Best of all, the Duval Street party starts at 10am and the bars stay open until 4am.

And of course all the watersports activities.   Just a few miles off Key West’s shoreline is the third largest living reef in the world and the only living reef in North America!  Key West offers many snorkeling trips throughout the day that take you to different reef sites.  They all furnish everything you need to swim and snorkel the beautiful living coral reef. You’ll see tropical fish and exotic marine wildlife such as turtles, dolphins and much more.  All snorkeling excursions offer refreshments, some have free beer on the way back in.

One of Key West most popular activities is the Island Jet Ski Tour or Jet Ski rentals.  The Island Tour is a high speed, guided, 1-1/2 hour, 28-mile around-the-island tour, with several stops along the way for photo opportunities. During the tour your guide will point out interesting things to see – beaches, Key West landmarks, and points of interest, including the Southernmost Point in the continental United States.   Also, you can rent a private jet ski and head out into the blue waters to do your own thing!  We offer state-of-the-art machines, Waverunners by Yamaha. With either choice – the Island Tour or Private Rental - Key West has fabulous ocean jet ski adventures waiting just for you and your friends.

Key West offers parasailing adventures that are among the least expensive in the Caribbean.  And how cool – to soar 100’s of feet above the water, and take in the sights of the island.   Rides are available single, tandem or triple.  There are many points of departure on the island, and hourly rides available.  It’s the perfect opportunity see the beauty of the ocean and Key West form a vantage point like no other.
